Summary

Pericle Stasi an elderly retired elementary school teacher who lives in a remote mountain village. One night, during a heavy snowfall, Pericle receives the letter from an old schoolmate (Veridiana) who warns him of her precarious state of health by inviting him to her bedside for a last farewell. Pericle goes to Veridiana but on the train someone drastically changes the meaning of his journey and his destination.
